JAPANESE NUT CAKE
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 stick butter
- ½ cup Crisco
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 5 egg yolks
- 1 tsp soda
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup coconut
- ½ cup nuts
- 5 egg whites
DIRECTIONS:
- Cream butter and Crisco
- Add sugar into mixture and egg yolks one-at-a-time
- Combine flour and soda; add to mix, alternately, with buttermilk
- Stir in vanilla; add coconut and nuts
- Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites
- Pour batter into pans
- Bake at 350ºF
